Achieving smooth shaping, preserved anatomy, and predictable results is essential when managing complex root canal systems. This advanced case demonstrates the clinical performance of EZ-Shaper® Files by ROGIN in a mandibular second molar presenting with narrow, severely curved canals.
The primary challenge was to avoid excessive enlargement while fully preserving the original canal anatomy. In such cases, over-preparation can compromise structural integrity and increase the risk of complications. A conservative, anatomy-driven approach was therefore essential from the outset.

Case Overview
Conservative access was established, followed by coronal flaring using the EZx 15/.07. A reliable glide path was then created to full working length with a #10 K-file and subsequently enlarged with the EZ1 15/.03.
Mesial canals were prepared conservatively with the EZ-Shaper® to a final size of 25/.04. This controlled preparation minimized the risk of lateral perforation and unnecessary dentin removal. Copious irrigation with activation was performed to enhance disinfection beyond the reach of instruments. Finally, all canals were densely obturated to working length while maintaining their original anatomy.
Key clinical message: In narrow curved canals, do not overprepare. A size of 25/.04 provides adequate shaping while effectively preserving critical dentin.
Clinical Workflow
- Access & Coronal Flaring: EZx 15/.07
- Glide Path: #10 K-file to working length ➡️ EZ1 15/.03
- Mesial Shaping: EZ-Shaper® 25/.04
- Irrigation: Copious irrigation with activation
- Obturation: Dense filling to working length
Clinical Tips for Narrow and Severely Curved Canals
- Preserve critical dentin in curved canals
- Establish a full-length glide path before shaping
- Adapt preparation size to canal anatomy
- Activate irrigation to reach beyond instrumentation

Case Details
- Tooth: Mandibular second molar
- Diagnosis: Not specified
- Challenge: Preserve anatomy and avoid over-enlargement
When treating narrow, severely curved canals, the priority remains controlled preparation that respects the original anatomy. The EZ-Shaper® system supports this goal by enabling smooth, predictable shaping without excessive dentin removal—delivering both clinical safety and long-term structural preservation.
